  "PBX" stands for "Private Branch Exchange," and means your KX-TA824 phone system.
"PT" stands for "Proprietary Telephone," and means a phone designed specifically for use with Panasonic systems.
"SLT" stands for "Single Line Telephone," and means an ordinary phone, not specifically designed for use with a system.
